Christian Dior was born in France on January 21st, 1905, and was a man renowned for his ingeniousness. Coming from a household which dealt with producing chemicals along with fertilizers, he streamed right in the opposite path but quite successfully making a reputation for himself in the fashion fraternity which conferred him a lot of accolades for his inventive manner of dealing with clothing. He was a master of his trade leaving no loose ends to grumble about. While his approach was unlike from the standard, it was this distinctiveness that gave him an impetus to make his concepts viable on a global basis. He had brought with his designs a revolution in women's attires once again making Paris as a centre of the fashion trade.

Christian Dior was an influential style designer and the creator of the Doir Empire. He attended the Ecole des Sciences Politiques to meet with his parent's requests. Though his family wished that he would become a diplomat, much to their amazement their child was more involved in art rather than being a diplomat. To make money he used to trade his fashion sketches at 10 cents each. He opened a small art gallery in 1928 from the money he received from his father. But due to the family's financial disaster he was forced to close up his gallery and worked with Robert Piguet who afterward joined the fashion house where he and Pierre Balmain had been the principal designers. In 1945 he went into production for himself, backed by Marcel Boussac, the cotton-fabric mogul. He opened his own fashion house in 1946 and presented his opening collection by the name "Corolle" which popularly gained the name New Look. Well-known for the sensual appearance given to his clothes, he was a master at creating shapes and silhouettes. He passed away on 23rd October, 1957.

Following his initial design, which had already ensured his position in the worldwide forum of fashion, his successive creations also made a large impact on the ramp. The H-line in 1954 and the A-line in 1955 became as fashionable as the original one and people began to look upto him as a man of inspiration. The company expanded not only in terms of retail outlets but in addition ventured into additional forums.
